Digital Touchpoints of Industry 4.0 in Austria, Czech Republic and Germany

The Digital Touchpoints of Industry 4.0 in Austria, Czech Republic and Germany conference will bring inspiring keynotes from Germany and Austria to share their experience with Industry 4.0 implementation in their home countries. The conference keynotes will compare the readiness of German, Austrian and Japanese companies for Industry 4.0 changes and offer an insight into how the Czech industry is adapting to the new trends. 

The conference will be followed by an Open House Day in the Testbed for Industry 4.0 which begins in the early afternoon hours and is free to conference participants to attend. During the Open House it is possible to tour the unique Testbed for Industry 4.0 which is an experimental lab designed to test inovative solutions and processes for the so called „Smart factories.“

The conference is in English and Czech without interpretation.

Registration upon conference is obligatory.  Registration fee 1000 CZK and VAT 21 %.

Roland Sommer

Roland Sommer serves as Managing Director of the Austrian Platform Industry 4.0 since October 2015. The platform is a public private partnership that aims at improving framework conditions for the introduction of digitalization (‘Industry 4.0’) bringing together relevant stakeholders in Austria. The focus of the work is based on innovation in production technologies and business models on the one hand and high-quality working conditions on the other hand. 

Prior to this function he worked as Director of Public-Private Affairs for AVL List GmbH. AVL List is the world's largest independent company for the development of powertrain systems with internal combustion engines as well as instrumentation and test systems.

From 2004 -2011 Mr. Sommer worked as senior policy adviser for the Federation of Austrian Industries; there he was responsible for research and innovation policy, both on the national and the EU level. From 2000 to 2004 he was employed by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency respectively its predecessor institution.

Mr. Sommer studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Austria, Wageningen University, the Netherlands, and the University of London, UK.

He is active in various national and international bodies.

Christian Blobner

Christian Blobner earned a Diplom degree in International Economics from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg in 2006. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Napier University in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2005.

In 2006 he started working for the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF as a project manager in the Logistics and Factory Systems business unit. There he was responsible for the acquisition and management of international research projects of the business unit in various EU-funding programs.

As Head of International Research Networks within Fraunhofer IFF’s International Business Development, Mr. Blobner coordinates the institutes international engagement and cooperation with international partners.

He is the institute’s representative in various high-level networks and initiatives, such as EFFRA, ALICE and EERA. Moreover, Mr. Blobner is the responsible manager for the Fraunhofer IFF’s Digital Innovation Hub “The VDTC of the Fraunhofer IFF”.
